Two glasses meeting in a toast

Eduardo Ceppa used to make mate at home.

The yerba, the water, the gourd: an Argentine habit that had kept its place in everyday life in Italy. Making mate was a familiar gesture, part of the way he lived in his home and spent his time.

Meanwhile, Italian liqueur culture had sparked another passion.

Eduardo had taken up making liqueurs at home. He prepared limoncino and nocino, exploring a tradition in which fruit, alcohol, sugar and patience become a recipe to keep and to offer.

From those familiar preparations, his curiosity spread to the plants and fruit of his garden.

A curiosity for the raw material

Making a liqueur at home means watching what happens to an ingredient over time.

A fruit changes its character. A plant gives back an aroma. Waiting becomes part of the work, together with tasting and the search for balance.

Eduardo grew passionate about this possibility: getting to know an ingredient through the way it could be transformed.

The garden offered chances to experiment. Yerba mate, already part of daily life, offered one particularly close to his story.

One day he decided to try making a liqueur with it.

A recipe at the barbecue

The chance to share it came at an Argentine barbecue with friends.

A moment of gathering, around food and conversation. Eduardo offered his yerba mate preparation, and the recipe surprised everyone.

The familiar ingredient had found a different form. Mate was meeting the language of the liqueurs Eduardo had learned to appreciate in Italy.

In that glass, the two cultures were already in conversation.

And they came together in the very gesture with which the recipe was presented: offering something made with care to the people around the table.

Why Argentina and Italy

Argentina belongs to the family roots of the project and to the everyday presence of mate.

Italy belongs to Eduardo’s passion for making liqueurs and to the craft through which that intuition would develop.

Amaro Yerba comes from this lived experience.

An Argentine raw material is explored through an Italian liqueur-maker’s sensibility. The bond between the two countries takes shape in the recipe, before it ever becomes a brand story.

From a family gesture to a project

That homemade preparation is where the story of Amaro Yerba begins.

The project takes up Eduardo’s intuition and develops it through work on the product: giving yerba mate a recognisable expression within the culture of Italian amaro.

Its origin keeps the measure of that first occasion.

A recipe made at home. Friends gathered for a barbecue. The surprise of a familiar ingredient discovered through a new taste.

That gesture still gives the project its direction today.

Prepare with care. Pour. Offer.
